Why do hospitals care about energy management?

When it is about the use of energy in any hospital or health care facility, it is estimated that a facility of around fifty beds requires spending around $600,000 on energy bills every year. To fulfil the continuously evolving needs of the patients, this number is consistently rising. When combined the expense of all the health care facility the number reaches around $ 600,000 billion every year. Therefore, to save expenditure on energy, there is a quick need for energy management in healthcare facilities. Hospitals are required to manage their energy bills for the following reasons:

  • Save money: As a large amount of money is going in paying off the high energy bills, energy management should be done to cut off the energy expenses. This way, healthcare facilities can save a large sum of money that can be further be utilized for other reasons such as buying new equipment, maintaining infrastructure and facilities, etc.
  • Reduce greenhouse emissions: Saving a large amount of energy can help in reducing the harmful emissions that are causing damage to the greenhouse. Thus, it is a great way to save environmental conditions.
  • Improve air quality: The quality of breathable air is going to be improved by recycling energy needs. The hot air emitted from the appliances can be saved from spreading into the air which improves the quality of air.
  • Support their commitment to public health: Health care facilities promise their patients that they will take ultimate care of their patient's health by providing the best possible treatment. Use of energy management software is one of the ways to fulfill their promises.

Healthcare facilities can make a lot of changes to save energy. There is a need to save energy by using alternatives for the equipment where energy can be saved and utilized such as changing to LED lights, maintenance of HVAC systems, installing low flow plumbing system, etc.
